I moved to Panama 27 years ago in 1982 and up to Volcan, Chiriqui in 2000. I asked myself "If I were poor where would I live?" I am an Oracle Applications Consultant for various groups and on my own. I have been traveling the world for the past 27 years living a life of pressure, objectives, friendships in the best hotels, best restaurants and flying first class. Now I am watching my pennies and eating my meals on the couch. It is hard to find work and I cannot imagine myself doing anything else than Oracle Application Consulting. I was not ready for the economic crash of 2008 and it did not hit me until 2009. I do have animals that I take care of but I lack the pressure of work that I so love to do. I enjoy my two toed sloths, raccoons, Kinkajous, dog, ferrets and Coatimundis but I miss the challenge of work. I was able to draw unemployment and it does pay for my food expenses. I am lucky that I was able to pay cash for my home and car. I am vegetarian and the food costs for my animals and myself are around $50 per week. We do well, but I miss the loving touch of a person to share my life with.
Every day I hear more bad news, The banks are closing, People loosing their jobs. Companies are closing their doors. The final events that will happen before the world comes to an end is that someone or some organization will say that they have all the answers and they will bring world peace and economic stability than the Lord will return to take his family home to be with him for a 1,000 years. I always heard about the return of Jesus Christ but I never really believed that I would experience it. I now read Daniel and Revelations with a new clearer understanding of what is in the Bible. A day in the Bible is a year an hour is 2 weeks so 1/2 hour is 1 week or 7 days.
I have learned to trust God for all things, he provides my every need and he has a plan for each and everyone of us. I must obey the commands of God, he will give me the strength to stay firm until the end
